Our Investment Management Team

M. Paul Bloom

Founder, President & Director, Chief Investment Officer

Paul Bloom is responsible for overseeing Bloom Investment Counsel, Inc.’s overall operations and serves as the Company’s Chief Investment Officer, working closely with the investment team in the construction and management of personalized Canadian portfolios.

Mr. Bloom has over 45 years of experience as an investment analyst or investment manager, the last 38 of which as the founder of Bloom Investment Counsel, where he is proud to have provided investment advice on the management of over $2.5B in assets over the years—transforming the lives and capital of countless clients throughout Canada. His prior experience includes mergers and acquisitions, investment analysis, and investment management at Slater, Walker of Canada (later renamed Talcorp Limited).

After obtaining his law degree in Britain, Mr. Bloom immigrated to Canada with his wife, Judith, in 1971. Here, they raised two daughters, both of whom were taught the importance of investment at a young age. Gratifyingly, both daughters pursued careers in the Canadian investment industry, and he is now attempting to instill similar values in his four teenage grandsons.

In the community, Mr. Bloom believes strongly in the importance of giving back and has devoted many years to assisting with and donating to various community charities, something taught to him by his parents and now passed on to his own family. Outside of work, Mr. Bloom enjoys traveling—learning from cultures and experiences around the world for work and social action.
