Bloom Investment Counsel, Inc. Q4/22 Investment Market Commentary
Watch M. Paul Bloom, CIO at Bloom Investment Counsel, Inc. review Q4/22 and share his thoughts on the investment markets in the coming year.
We anticipate that 2023 is going to be a difficult year. One where investors will need to be stock pickers rather than following the index or trends of the market.
As active investment managers selecting individual stocks which we believe will perform well and not simply because they are included in an index, we believe our style of investing should have a positive impact on clients’ investment portfolios this year.
Our outperformance in 2022 was not an anomaly or coincidence. Many studies have shown that over decades, higher dividend-paying stocks in which Bloom specializes, have substantially outperformed the S&P/TSX Composite Index.
Our overall objective for clients’ portfolios is a total return approach: income and capital appreciation, by investing in higher-yielding common equity stocks with a market capitalization of over half a billion.
